about

This classic son montuno from Cuba was written by the prolific Nico Saquito and recorded by such masters as Guillermo Portabales and Eliades Ochoa.

"Al Vaiven de Mi Carreta" translates roughly as "To The Sway of My Ox-Cart" and tells the story of a man working from sun-up to sun-down, traveling from cane plantation to cane plantation, for money he barely sees, for an employer he does not know.

His song is a lament for his humble home - "mi bohio." This beautiful composition is my favorite song.
