about
Remembrance is a song which stems from my early days in Elizabeth NJ, circa 1999, when I was in a power-trio called Food Stamp Fury. Although I much like the original electric version*, I kept coming back to the idea of updating this tune as an acoustic version as I thought it might be fun to play with its potential for dynamic color.
What pleased me most about revisiting this tune was not so much the idea of changing it but expanding it a wee bit. This number was, perhaps, a tree that had yet a few more branches to extend - and yet it remains the same old tree.
I penned this one but, needless to say, there are several quotes in the intro and outro from classic tunes such as Blue Moon and Bob Marley's My Cup and Redemption Song. I could not resist the temptation to update this song with a dash of the Latin American ballad Perfidia.
Cheers,
Deivito
*(I will be posting the original Food Stamp Fury version soon.)
